The miracle is not that we jump rope, but that we are happy to do it

Not to be overly technical, but in the jump from rope jumping it is very important to be able to feel your feet.

In a traditional sense it means making sure the rope touches the ground and that you have the proper balance before you are able to move your feet - thus the reason why the instructor said to let go of the rope if the rope was not touching the ground. This was because he was letting you experience it, and you must feel that something tangible was happening.

We jump rope not for the sake of jumping rope, but to be happy to jump rope. I know that this is not a revolutionary approach to any type of exercise but I just felt that was the appropriate conclusion to this paragraph.

jumping rope

A lot of the principles here are pretty normal concepts in other type of gymnastics, particularly those who have gone to an Olympic Gymnastics Training Center. I will be focusing more on "how to" jump rope. For example, if you were to ever do the exercises, whether it be alone or someone else, you will want to hold the rope in front of you and have your back slightly to the side of the loop and have your knees at a 135 degree angle in that the loop should now be going from your shin almost to your chest.

However, in this chapter I will not cover techniques that you will use that are different from what you will see in a normal gymnastics class. What I will describe in here will give you the basic fundamentals of the art of jump rope.

The first thing here is to make sure that you are ready to learn. Jump rope has a lot to do with a person's overall body, so if you are not in a good shape then you should probably read a book on training before jumping into this series. Jump rope is all about the physical - so to some degree fitness is a big advantage here. However, there are tricks of the trade, which will be discussed in a later article.
